WASHINGTON, DC – The Freight Rail Customers Alliance (FRCA) today applauded the U.S. Senate for confirming Ann D. Begeman to a second term on the Surface Transportation Board (STB).

Early this morning by unanimous consent, the Senate approved Begeman’s nomination to a second five-year term on the STB. Begeman was first appointed to the STB in 2011. Her term expired December 31, 2015 and she is currently in the final weeks of a one-year holdover period. Her new term will run through December 31, 2020.

Prior to joining the Board, Begeman served on the staff of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, where she helped draft the ICC Termination Act of 1995, which created the STB. She subsequently served as a senior aide to Sen. John McCain, R-AZ.

“Ann Begeman is known both in Washington and in the transportation sector as an honest broker who is committed to making the STB work better for all stakeholders,” said Ann Warner, FRCA’s Executive Director. “FRCA thanks President Obama for nominating Ann Begeman to a second term and the Senate for its swift confirmation. We look forward to continue working with Board Member Begeman.”
