APPA, EEI, NARUC, and NRECA Urge STB to Monitor Rail Service Issues

On April 9, 2014, the American Public Power Association (APPA), the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association sent a letter to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) commending the the STB for opening a proceeding, Ex Parte 724, to examine rail service issues that have recently been impacting rail shippers. The letter, which is attached, urges the STB to monitor the railroads to ensure that service to critical sectors, such as electrical generation, is not further undermined by the railroad service problems.
