Freight Rail Customer Alliance Supports $48.184 Million in FY ’24 Appropriations and Accompanying Report Language for the Surface Transportation Board
On April 7, 2023 the Freight Rail Customer Alliance (FRCA) sent a letter to the Members of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Subcommittee supporting that the Surface Transportation Board (STB) be funded at least at the $48.184 million as recommended by President Biden in the Administration’s FY ’24 Budget. Consistent with past years’ efforts, FRCA also recommended accompanying report language addressing the importance of: 1) the worsening freight rail carrier service problems; 2) collecting FMLM and other rail carrier data; 3) delays in finalizing proposals aimed to foster competition in the marketplace; and, 4) requesting additional resources if the Board decides to incorporate a greater use of CBA in rulemakings.
