Congressional Activities and Hearings

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee are the two congressional committees with jurisdiction over the laws that govern freight railroads, that authorize/set funding levels for the Surface Transportation Board (STB), and establish Federal freight rail policies.

The House and Senate Judiciary committees have jurisdiction of the nation’s anti-trust laws.

The House and Senate Appropriation committees provide the annual appropriations for the STB and related activities.

114th Congress (2015-2016)

Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee holds an Executive Session where the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act of 2015, S. 808, is unanimously approved (without amendment) and reported out of Committee. March 25, 2015.
